Baris Standiþ – Single Track

“Baris Standiþ” (‘The Barley Stands’) is a Gothic-language song written by Edmund Fairfax ( The piece figures in his literary novel The Dwarf’s Head, a work in progress, which deals with the life of the fourth-century Gothic king Ermanaric. In the novel, the song is a kind of lullaby, meant to help the king overcome worry and sleeplessness when things begin to fall apart. This is a two-part a cappella arrangement (3.28 min.). A choir-effect was created by superimposing multiple tracks of Donna Greenberg singing both parts.
